Surveillance Capacity in the “Blue Homeland” is Increasing

The groundbreaking and infrastructure installation phase has begun for the TRNC Coastal Surveillance Radar System (SGRS) Project, which has been initiated to enhance maritime security and situational awareness in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

According to a statement by HAVELSAN Technology Radar (HTR), the SGRS Project—procured by the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB)—is being carried out under the company’s main contractor responsibility.
Under the coordination of SSB and in line with the needs of the Coast Guard Command, the project aims to ensure effective radar coverage across the maritime zones of Türkiye and the TRNC, establish a comprehensive surface picture, and enhance maritime situational awareness.
In the statement, HTR Chairman of the Board Savaş Yanık emphasized the strategic importance of the system to be implemented in the TRNC, highlighting its impact on regional security.
Yanık stated, “With the SGRS Project to be implemented in the TRNC, we anticipate significant contributions to strengthening radar coverage, establishing a comprehensive surface picture, and creating a sustainable and effective surveillance infrastructure in maritime domains.”
HTR General Manager Mustafa Özçelik also commented on the project, stating, “We are pleased to be part of this strategic project that will contribute to strengthening the maritime security capabilities of the TRNC. We believe that the SGRS Project, carried out with HTR’s domestic engineering capabilities and integrated system approach, will make significant contributions to enhancing maritime domain awareness and strengthening regional security infrastructure.”
Within the scope of the project, the on-site construction and infrastructure works are being carried out by ACA. With its experience in defense industry projects and strong engineering approach, ACA contributes to the project by executing all field operations in compliance with international standards.
